What the WBFAA Apprenticeship Offers
This is a real job with real pay from day one. WBFAA’s three-year, state and federally approved program prepares you to become a certified fire and security systems technician. You’ll work full-time for a WBFAA member company while completing online coursework through Chabot College.

Fire alarm system installation, testing, programming, and compliance with NFPA standards
Security systems including sensors, control panels, and monitoring
Access control systems such as card readers and biometrics
Video surveillance design, setup, and configuration

Who Should Apply
Ideal candidates are detail oriented, mechanically inclined, and motivated to build a long-term trade career. A high school diploma or GED is required. No prior experience is needed.

Graduates qualify to apply for California state certification as fire life safety and electronic security technicians. Certified technicians can work independently, move into management, or start their own companies. Demand across California remains high, with excellent job stability and career potential.
